Cast Metal Abstract Sculpture

This lovely sculpture is made of cast metal. It is an abstract form and probably dates from the 1970s. It stands about twelve inches tall and looks very different depending from which direction you look at it. It is essentially a straight rectangular column but some sides have interesting undulating shapes cut into them. The surface texture is smooth on these cut sides but the others sides have a rough grainy pattern on them. This texture is reminiscent of some bark-effect textures that are so common in brutalist art of the time. For extra interest one of the rough sides is partly polished to give a smooth surface that still has some texture to it. It has quite an industrial look to it and it is clear the artist must have been fascinated by the possibilities of the material to create something new and interesting.

So far I have not been able to identify a possible maker but it sure warrants a place in my Brutalist Art section.
