Henry Moore, Two Piece Reclining Figure No.3, 1961

This fantastic sculpture by Henry Moore (1898-1986) was sculpted in 1961 and bought in 1962 by London County Council to be placed on the newly built Brandon Estate in Southwark. The Brandon Estate is a typical post war development dominated by six 18 story tower blocks and surrounded by plenty of green. The sculpture has pride of place and the brutalist architecture that surround it form the perfect backdrop. Sculpture always deserves to be admired in its surroundings and it doesn't get much more splendid then this. The sculpture has a Grade II listing and is well worth a visit to South London!
