Rawlings, brutalist wall hanging panel 'Sparta'

This large impressive abstract wall hanging panel would look stunning above a modernist sideboard. Made of fibreglass in high relief with a stunning bronzed finish it exemplifies its period. It is signed 'Rawlings', an artist yet to be further identified although we can assume it is an English artist as the mould was made by 'Art 3' in Bristol. It is titled 'Sparta' and dated 3/75.The panel is highly abstract so it is not quite clear what we are looking at but considering the title the shapes on the left hand side are probably spartan warriors.

This is a perfect example of what you would expect brutalist art to be and while it certainly has the appearance of some of the large brutalist murals you can find dotted around the country on public buildings, what is nice about this item is that it appears to have been made for an indoor setting so it allows you to bring that public art inside.
